The Black Swan "Three Men in a Boat, to silence the dog," Jerome Jerome Klapka

Born almost case (initially intended to be a sort of tour guide, the 'cut off nearly all the publisher seeing more defections as a narrative comic), we've got what would be regarded as the epitome of British comedy, made of thin and highly ironic jokes .

The strength of the book is not in the main story (the trip along the Thames of three friends. And of course the dog), as in many episodic narrative digressions, raccontanti funny episodes from time to time status as a comedian, making them almost worthy of a separate book (a bit of style Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy ). Speaking of customs, navigation, cooking, historical facts, geography, and the story of these "stories in the story" creates a fascinating picture of an 'England now partly lost, since the chips are really a beautiful fresco.
